The mission of Lighthouse XR is to develop and distribute an innovative and effective approach for Substance Use Disorder Education and Therapy using Evidence Based Programs and Virtual Reality. Our flagship product is called The Retreat and is currently in 4 Veterans Administration locations and expanding. In The Retreat, we take the concepts behind a CBT based program called Transcending Self Therapy (TST) and integrate them into an immersive and interactive environment, a cabin on a lake. Through 17 separate sessions, our main goals are to better engage patients in their recovery, increase understanding and retention of recovery concepts, and improve treatment completion rates and outcomes. For providers, The Retreat allows them to extend their clinical resources by leveraging as little as 1 hour of in-person therapy into an additional 3-7 hours per week of recover content which can be available “24×7” and does not require internet. Our latest paper, currently in peer review, found that for patients in a 28 day residential program, 40% of those who did not use VR left the program early, of those who used The Retreat VR 14% left treatment early. We are currently seeking grants for additional research, content development and marketing.
